Week 16 - another 2 pounds

I am up 6 pounds so far -- which is within the range of what they like to see. I saw the Kaiser OB today so that we could get labwork done and schedule our 20 week u/s. We discussed the risks of going into early labor and that I should be seeing the OB every 2 weeks to make sure everything is still fine. He hopes that the babies make to at least 30-32 weeks at a minimum. There is a little concern that even though baby C did not make it, it still might cause some issues of me going into preterm labor because my body might not be able to disguinsh that baby C doesn't exist anymore.

Other than that, both A and B are doing well and are growing like weeds. They were waving and kicking when we saw them today. A is facing so that he kicks B right in the head. She doesn't seem to mind though. She is always looking like she is chilled out and relaxed.

The Babies
Get ready for a growth spurt. In the next few weeks, your babies will double their weight and add inches to their length. Right now, they are the size of avocados: 4 1/2 inches long (head to rump) and 3 1/2 ounces. Their legs are much more developed, their heads are more erect than they have been, and their eyes have moved closer to the front of their heads. Their ears are close to their final position, too. The patterning of their scalp has begun, though their locks aren't recognizable yet. They even started growing toenails. And there's a lot happening inside as well. For example, their hearts are now pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day, and this amount will continue to increase as your babies continues to develop.

My Development

Here are some pictures of the kids. If you look really closely, you can see Baby A's face right under the lettering. Baby B is chilling as usual.
